This morning I tried my first green smoothie using my new favorite green kale. Um, let’s just say it’s a work in progress.
I recently purchased a couple of books on juicing and smoothie making and one of the things I read is that the bitterness of raw kale can be masked with sweet fruit such as bananas and peaches, neither of which I had. Instead, I mixed two kale leaves with a mango, nectarine, a handful of strawberries and a tablespoon of agave nectar to sweeten it. I would not recommend this. It made it tolerable, but not very enjoyable.
Next time, I will definitely use banana. If that doesn’t work, maybe I’ll just use one kale leaf. Either way, I’m determined to make a delicious kale smoothie.
